Chutney Powder

Chutney powder can be a side dish for anything. Rice, chapati, rasam, upma, idli, dosa, curd rice, etc.

Ingredients

Chutney Powder

  • 1 cup split chickpea lentils
  • 1 cup split white gram
  • 1/2 cup grated dry coconut
  • 1/4 cup curry leaves
  • 1/4 cup dried red chillis (break them into small chunks, and remove the calyx)
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon dry tamarind
  • 1 tablespoon powdered jaggery
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

Directions

Chutney Powder

  1. In a frying pan add one tablespoon oil.
  2. Add split white gram, split chickpea lentils. Saute them using a spatula.
  3. Wait till the split chickpeas turn golden brown, then add grated dry coconut, curry leaves and turmeric powder.
  4. Saute everything (except dried red chillis) for another two minutes.
  5. Set the sauted mixture into a plate.
  6. Now saute the dried red chillis.
  7. Set the sauted chillis into the plate with the previous mixture.
  8. Let it cool. Add salt, powdered jaggery, dry tamarind.
  9. Grind the mixture.
  10. Store the powder in an air tight container.
